Clear Horizons is committed to creating a transformative educational experience that drives students and staff to achieve at the highest level. Both the ECHS and P-TECH programs equip students for success in college, career and community leadership.

Both programs are offered at no cost to families. 

San Jacinto College has an articulation agreement with several Texas universities. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board ensures community college credits in CORE classes will be accepted by Texas public universities. For specific information regarding private or out-of-state institutions students should contact the institution directly.

High school sports and fine arts programs are available to Clear Horizons students through their zoned high school campus. Clear Horizons students must work with the coach or sponsor directly to inquire about participation requirements and provide their own transportation for these activities. Clear Horizons students cannot participate in the high school content or athletic period, but may be able to participate in practice before or after the Clear Horizons school day. (8:00 AM - 3:20 PM)

CCISD provides transportation for Clear Horizons students from the zoned high schools and intermediate schools. Students may utilize neighborhood CCISD buses if they qualify based on their zoned high school and intermediate campus. Bus routes may vary on the District and College calendars.

Families can pick up and drop off students each day. Students with a valid license can drive and park on campus after requesting a parking sticker from San Jac.

Yes, Clear Horizons provides academic supports to help prepare students for the rigorous course work in both high school and college classes. Many students who are successful at Clear Horizons, did not take Honors classes in Intermediate school. 

Clear Horizons is open to all 8th grade students who live within CCISD and who are willing and motivated to commit to a rigorous four-year program. The lottery is weighted to ensure the student population helps us meet the ECHS/P-TECH model design set by the TEA. Our model is designed for students who are least likely to attend college or wish to accelerate completion of high school and an associate degree. Most years we have more applicants than seats available. Each year we admit 125 ECHS students and 30 P-TECH students. We will maintain a waiting list through 10th grade and invite students from that waiting list as seats become available.

No, once you are a Clear Horizons student you do not have to reapply. The application is only open for 8th graders to apply and we maintain the waiting list through the cohort’s 10th grade school year.

Clear Horizons is for students who live within CCISD. 

Out of District transfers: If you are seeking to apply to our Clear Horizons Early College High School or P-TECH, we encourage you to enroll in the district by 7th grade. Clear Horizons Early College High School and/or P-TECH may be applied to once a student has successfully been in the district for at least a year. 

The program is offered at no cost to families. All tuition, books, and fees are paid for while the student is enrolled at Clear Horizons. 

ECHS: Every student will have the opportunity to earn up to 60 college credit hours and an associate degree

P-TECH: Every student will have the opportunity to earn up to 60 college credit hours, industry-based certifications and/or an associate degree

No matter the program, Clear Horizons students will have the opportunity to earn a degree, but the student must meet all of the requirements for high school graduation from CCISD and from San Jacinto College for the associate degree. Clear Horizons counselors work closely with San Jacinto College Dual-Credit Advisors to ensure students are on track for the associate degree. 

ECHS: While earning their high school diploma, students have the opportunity to graduate with up to 60 college credit hours and an associate of arts degree in General Studies from San Jacinto College that may be transferable to any public university in the state of Texas. There are 7 approved associate degrees that ECHS students may be eligible for: Business, Fine Arts, Social & Behavioral Sciences, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Natural Science. 

P-TECH: While earning their high school diploma, students have the opportunity to graduate with up to 60 college credit hours and an associate of arts degree in General Studies from San Jacinto College that may be transferable to any public university in the state of Texas. P-TECH students will also work toward obtaining up to four industry-based certifications in healthcare: Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Electrocardiogram (EKG) Technician, Phlebotomy Technician, and Patient Care Technician (PCT).
