Mentor/Induction Program
Mentoring For Teachers:
Each new faculty member in Clear Creek ISD is provided a mentor teacher. The mentor helps the new teacher with the district curriculum, instructional strategies, classroom management, district policies, and campus practices. A mentor is also assigned to each experienced teacher who is new to the district.
Mentoring For Students:
- Clear Horizons students start each school day with a half hour in Advisory. These daily small group mentoring sessions are facilitated by a faculty member who provides intentional guidance regarding character education, Core Values, personal goal setting, time management, academic support, and success in a collegiate setting.
- Clear Horizons utilizes a Student Ambassador program to help support new Coyotes. The Ambassadors are older Clear Horizons students who have been on campus for at least one year and who were selected by a faculty committee for consistently demonstrating leadership, scholarship, and citizenship. Their first function is to build relationships with the incoming freshmen during their two-day summer induction, called Coyote Camp. The Student Ambassadors maintain these relationships with the freshmen throughout the year to support the newest members of our learning community,
- Every student at Clear Horizons participates in two semester-long internships with a mentor from our community business partners. Students participate in internships during the spring of their junior year and the fall of their senior year to experience first-hand the engaging world of work, to build valuable professional networks, and to prepare for their launch into a four year university with a specific career interest to pursue.
