Tutorials and Academic Supports

ECHS Tutoring and Summer Camps

Clear Horizons students have opportunities for tutoring in high school courses several times each week.  Two Advisory periods  are set aside each week to allow students to solicit help from any teacher for academic support.  Clear Horizons also has a late bus which runs every Tuesday and Thursday to allow students to stay after school to attend tutorials, study, or work on group projects.  Students may also make appointments with high school teachers for tutoring sessions.

Students who need support in college classes are encouraged to attend supplemental instruction sessions for the course, make an appointment with the professor, visit the  Student Success Center in the college Library, or seek support from their high school teachers.  These additional avenues provide support for those students whose professors' office hours do not coincide with the times when students are available to meet.

Each summer, Clear Horizons holds two camps.  The Summer Bridge Program is designed for incoming freshmen who have not taken a Pre-AP course in their educational career.   Coyote Camp is a two-day orientation for all students who are new to our campus.  The Summer Bridge Program focuses on getting to know the teachers of the freshman class, having an early exposure to the high school curriculum for each course, and developing time management, study skills, and personal grit to be successful in such a rigorous collegiate environment.  Coyote Camp is an orientation to the college campus, college life, and corresponding high school procedures.  With our incoming students being only 14 years old and coming from ten different intermediate schools, it is important for them to meet upperclassmen, register with the Dual Credit Office, train on the college Blackboard, explore the facilities, and build relationships with their new ninth grade classmates.
