We have so many great partners in the community who support Clear Horizons and we want to take a moment to recognize them!!

BIG THANKYOU to the community, local businesses, and parents who make so much possible each year at CHECHS with their tax deductible donations to our Booster Club:

  • Arlan’s Market
  • Justiz Family $500

*The Booster Club uses these generous donations for scholarships, fees, college tours, special events and other things NOT funded by the school district. It also allows students to focus on studies and not on fundraising.  If you would be interested in making a donation or need more information, please contact us at chechs@live.com.  In the subject line, place the message:  “ATTN: Community Fundraising Chairperson.”

College Textbook Return:  All college textbooks are now overdue.  Students who have not returned all college textbooks are now on the Not Clear List.

College Textbooks for the Spring Semester:  All students will receive SJC textbooks for the Spring semester within the first 2 weeks of San Jac classes in January.

Clear Horizons Student Ambassadors:  Do you have an interest in supporting incoming students as they adjust to life as a Coyote?  Would you be interested in speaking or assisting campus information nights?  Would you want to be a student leader in Coyote Camp?  If so, consider applying to be a Clear Horizons Student Ambassador!  This is a new leadership opportunity for students to both serve and represent our campus by supporting new students from the time they’re curious 8th graders until they set foot on campus!  Get more information by picking up an application in the Horizons Front Office.  Hurry!  Applications are due by the end of the day Tuesday, Dec. 13th!

Senior ISM Expo:  The Class of 2017 will hold the senior ISM expo to showcase their internship experiences and mentor guided product developments.  The expo will be held Thursday, December 15, from 6:00 – 7:00 PM in the Clear Springs High School Commons, 501 Palomino St, League City TX 77573.  All students and their families are invited to stop by and see the great projects our seniors have completed this semester.

Attention All Filmmakers:  The Texas Association of School Boards is conducting a student video contest “Show the World Why Your School Rocks!”  What makes your school exceptional? Why do you love it so much? How has your school earned the support of the community? What makes Texas public schools the best choice? Make a video to show the world why your school ROCKS! You just might win some money for your classroom or campus!  There can only  be one entry per campus.  Interested filmmakers should stop by the office and pick up an entry form.  Videos are due to the Clear Horizons Judges no later than the end of the school day, Friday, January 6, 2017.

CCISD Exam Week:  Clear Horizons will have semester exams December 12 – 15.  Semester exams will be given on the following days:

Monday, December 12 – Periods 1 & 2

Tuesday, December 13 – Periods 5 & 6

Wednesday, December 14 – Periods 3 & 4

Thursday, December 15 – Periods 7 & 8

Amazon Smile!  The Clear Horizons Booster Club is now on Amazon Smile!  Simply follow this link https://smile.amazon.com/ch/26-3510958 and you will be donating to the Clear Horizons Booster Club!!  The link looks like a generic CCISD identification, but it is really for the Clear Horizons Boosters!

Yearbook:  Yearbooks are currently for sale for $30 on balfour.com.  The price will increase to $35 on January 1. You may also pay cash or check, payable to CHECHS, to Mrs. Hampton in Room 9.266.  On balfour.com, you may also purchase ads that you design yourself ($20) and order nameplates and other extras for your yearbook.  Deadline for the extras is December 31.  Order yours today!

NHS Table Tutors: Would you like to have a free tutor who has successfully navigated the Horizons workload? Come to the BQR on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to get immediate help, schedule an after school tutoring session (held in a high school teacher's classroom), or to find out more about secrets of success at Horizons. These friendly experienced tutors will be stationed at a table near check-in between 1:15 -1:45 pm. What a great resource - but only if you use it!

Advisory: Advisory class begins at 8:00 AM Monday through Friday.  Students who arrive after 8:00 AM MUST report to the office to check into school, regardless of their arrival time throughout the day.  The only time a student may report directly to class is to advisory class at 8:00 AM.

Service Learning:  Service learning hours should be submitted to a basket in the office where students can turn in hours at any point in the year.  To help students stay organized with Service Learing Hours, we have suggested due dates for the summer and fall semester:

December 9 – Fall Service Learning Hours Due (Any hours accumulated throughout the Fall semester should be turned in by this date.)

The absolute final due date for all Service Learning hours to be submitted is:

March 31 – All Service Learning Hours (at least 20 hours) must be turned in by this date.

As service learning is a key aspect of our mission at Clear Horizons, students who do not meet the 20 hour requirement will meet with Clear Horizons administration to explain the deficit.  Students who refuse to meet the requirement will be returned to their zoned campus.

Dress Code:  Clear Horizons follows the CCISD dress code.  The student dress code can be found on our website under the “For Parents” tab or the “For Students” tab.  http://chechs.ccisd.net/UserFiles/Servers/Server_655841/File/Dress%20Code%202016%202017.pdf

Late Bus:  Clear Horizons provides a late bus that runs every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:00 PM.  The Late Bus began running this Tuesday, August 31.  The late bus will be in front of our school by 5:00 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday and typically departs within 10 minutes. The late bus will drop off in two locations: The East side of 45 at Clear Creek High School and on the West side of 45 at Brookside Intermediate. Students who are planning on riding the late bus must request a pass from the office. The request must be made for official business only (ie tutorials, a rehearsal, detention, etc.). A bus pass must be picked up before 1:00 p.m. on the day you want to ride (Tuesday or Thursday). No bus passes will be issued after lunch.  If you do not have a pass you will not be allowed to ride the bus.   If no one has picked up a late bus pass, the bus will be cancelled. Students, make sure that your parent/guardian knows that you are staying late and catching the late bus. The front office closes at 4:00 p.m.  When signing up for pass students must include the following:

1) Purpose – Why are you staying late?

2) Location from 3:30 – 5:00 – Where will you be?

3) Parent Permission – Did you let your parent know you were staying late?

The reason we must have this information is so that we can find you in case of an emergency.
