School Pictures:  Our school photographer will be on campus for school photos TODAY Friday, September 2.


New Friday Schedule:  This year the “Regular” Clear Horizons schedule will be an 8 period schedule incorporating the entire day from 8:00 AM – 1:30 PM.  TODAY we will follow the new schedule below:

Friday for Grades 9 – 11




8:00 – 8:10


8:15 – 8:50


8:55 – 9:30


9:35 – 10:10


10:15 – 10:50


10:55 – 11:30


11:35 – 12:10


12:15 – 12:50


12:55 – 1:30

  • *Lunch for all students will be taken between the hours of 10:55 and 1:30.  Students will go to lunch Fridays during the LAB period for high school math class.

Students, please look at your Friday schedule (periods 11 – 18, plus Advisory – Period 19) and ask your advisory teacher to clarify any confusions you have about Friday.

Seniors will still have class from 8:00 – 12:00 before having tutorial opportunities from 12:00 – 1:00 and lunch from 1:00 – 1:30.



School Holiday:  Both SJC and CCISD will have a school holiday Monday, September 5.


9th Grade Student Council Officer Application:  Any 9th grader interested in running for class officer (President, Vice President, Secretary) can pick up an application from Mrs. Kahlich in her office, 9.109.  All officers must be able to attend an executive meeting once a month and the general Student Council meeting once a month.  Applications will be available from Tuesday, September 6 - Friday, September 9.  Applications and videos are due back to Mrs. Kahlich by Tuesday, September 20.  Officer elections will take place during advisory on Thursday, September 22.  


Yearbook Club: The Yearbook club will meet Tuesday, September 6, after school in Room S9.266 from 3:30 – 4:30.


Math Club: The Math Club will meet Thursday, September 8, after school in Room 9.266 from 3:30-4:30.


Clear Horizons 2016 T-Shirts!  Clear Horizons T-shirts are on sale now in the office!!  Come get one of these fabulous shirts for only $15 and help the Booster Club support our school! To get a shirt please bring $15 to the office and ask for Mrs. Hafer.  She will take your payment and get you the right shirt.  Remember – all students must wear a Clear Horizons shirt on Service Learning trips!!  The freshman and sophomore Service Learning trips are both going to take place Friday, October 7. Get your shirt today!


Online Registration:  Parents, if you have not verified your student’s information online please do so by going to click the “@Home” button and signing in with your Skyward user name and password.  If you are having trouble or you did not have a Skyward account last year please contact Mrs. Thomas by email at jothomas@ccisd.net  with your Student’s Name and the parent’s email address or the email you registered with last year.  These forms will be available until Labor Day Monday, September 5.  Please have your forms completed before the September 5 deadline.


Proof of Residence:  Every family each year must provide a proof of residence to the school each of their students attends.  If you did not participate in early registration this summer you must provide a proof of residence for the 2016-2017 school year by Monday, September 5.  Acceptable forms of a proof of residence are the following:


Utility Bill (gas, water or electricity only)

Lease agreement

Mortgage statement


Please include your student’s name and grade level on the copy of your proof of residence.  Parents are welcome to send the proof of residence to the Clear Horizons front office with their student or you can drop it off in person.


Service Learning:  Service learning hours should be submitted to a basket in the office where students can turn in hours at any point in the year.  To help students stay organized with Service Learning Hours, we have suggested due dates for the summer and fall semester:


December 9 – Fall Service Learning Hours Due (Any hours accumulated throughout the Fall semester should be turned in by this date.)


The absolute final due date for all Service Learning hours to be submitted is:

March 31 – All Service Learning Hours (at least 20 hours) must be turned in by this date.


As service learning is a key aspect of our mission at Clear Horizons, students who do not meet the 20 hour requirement will meet with Clear Horizons administration to explain the deficit.  Students who refuse to meet the requirement will be returned to their zoned campus.


Late Bus:  Clear Horizons provides a late bus that runs every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:00 PM.  The late bus will be in front of our school by 5:00 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday and typically departs within 10 minutes. The late bus will drop off in two locations: The East side of 45 at Clear Creek High School and on the West side of 45 at Brookside Intermediate. Students who are planning on riding the late bus must request a pass from the office. The request must be made for official business only (ie tutorials, a rehearsal, detention, etc.). A bus pass must be picked up before 1:00 p.m. on the day you want to ride (Tuesday or Thursday). No bus passes will be issued after lunch.  If you do not have a pass you will not be allowed to ride the bus.  If no one has picked up a late bus pass, the bus will be cancelled. Students, make sure that your parent/guardian knows that you are staying late and catching the late bus. The front office closes at 4:00 p.m.  When signing up for pass students must include the following:

1) Purpose – Why are you staying late?

2) Location from 3:30 – 5:00 – Where will you be?

3) Parent Permission – Did you let your parent know you were staying late?

The reason we must have this information is so that we can find you in case of an emergency.


Advisory: Advisory class begins at 8:00 AM Monday through Friday.  Students who arrive after 8:00 AM MUST report to the office to check into school, regardless of their arrival time throughout the day.  The only time a student may report directly to class is to advisory class at 8:00 AM.

Open House:  The Clear Horizons Open House will take place on Thursday, September 8 at 7:00 PM in the Proscenium, Fine Arts building, Building 15.  We hope to see you all there!


Friday “A” Day:  Because of the Labor Day holiday, we will be meeting a Friday, “A” Day Friday, September 9.  Students will meet only “A” day classes.


Progress Reports:  All grade reports will be electronically distributed this year, unless parents utilize the online option to opt in to the paper report.  We will include this information in the weekly callouts leading up to the first three week progress report.  The first progress report of the year will be posted on Thursday, September 15.


Late Arrival Day: Wednesday, September 21, is a CCISD High School Late Arrival Day.  There will be no morning neighborhood buses available due to CCISD High School Late Arrival. Clear Horizons buses will still run from the 5 zoned high schools (a shuttle does not run from Clear View High School on Late Arrival Days).  Clear Horizons does not participate in Late Arrival Days, therefore all Clear Horizons students are required to attend all classes on that day.


Parent Information Night:  Clear Horizons will conduct our first Parent Information Night of the year Tuesday, September 27, beginning at 7:00 PM.  Our amazing counselors will discuss all you ever wanted or needed to know about Naviance.  You don’t want to miss this session! 


CCISD Student Holiday:  CCISD students will have a school holiday Friday, September 30.  As there are no college classes on Fridays, Clear Horizons students will be able to enjoy a three day weekend!


CCEF Dine Out to Donate!  The Clear Creek Education Foundation is holding the annual Dine Out to Donate again this year on October 3!!  Please plan on dining out at one of the fabulous locations listed on the flyer located on our website under the for parents tab.  The flyer can be found at the following link: http://chechs.ccisd.net/UserFiles/Servers/Server_655841/File/Dine%20Out%20to%20Donate%20-%20Vertical%20Flier.png

The school with the highest participation wins $1,000, so go out and get some great food and help Horizons win big CCEF Monety!!


Service Learning Opportunities:


Space Center Rotary Shrimporee 2016:  The Rotary Club of Space Center is hosting the 2016 Shrimporee Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Landolt Pavilion at Clear Lake Park.  To volunteer to work the Shrimporee you must use SignUp.com:

  3. Sign up!  It’s easy! You will NOT need to register an account or keep a password on SignUp.com.

KBR Kids Day on Buffalo Bayou:  City ArtWorks, a local Houston non-profit that offers affordable after-school art programs, summer camps, and studio classes are looking for volunteers to help run our booth at the 10th Annual KBR Kids Day on Buffalo Bayou. The date is Saturday October 15 from 9:00am-4:00pm

Students can come for the full day, or, in shifts: 

9:00am - 10:30am (setup)

11:00am-1:00pm (booth management)

1:00pm-3:00pm (booth management)

3:00-4:00 (take-down)

Students will help manage booth visitors who will be participating in arts projects and/or also help with the set up/clean up process depending on the time they can devote.

Wings Over Houston:  The Houston Westchase Rotary Club needs volunteers to be parking attendants at the Wings Over Houston, Saturday, October 22 and Sunday October 23.  Volunteers will arrive at Ellington Airport by 6:30 AM and conclude by approximately 2:00 PM each day. 

  • Volunteers will be directing the incoming parking to this event, handing flag directions to park in grass covered curbed fields adjacent to the airport, but are not involved in the traffic leaving the event.
  • Volunteers should Enter Ellington Airport via CHALLENGER PKWY, Park at the corner of CHALLENGER PKWY and  AEROSPACE AVE – opposite side of the Large Airplane Display, Look for a Rotary banner
  • Be sure to bring sunscreen, hat, long sleeves, shoes for wet ground, rain gear, and dress for the weather.
