CCISD Parent Survey:  TODAY is the last day to let CCISD know your opinion!  Please complete the CCISD Parent Climate Survey at the following link:

(English): https://tinyurl.com/mb9fylw

(Spanish): https://tinyurl.com/kqk5oyf

The survey is very important because it lets us know your opinion and how we can serve you and our students better. Please complete the survey by TODAY Friday, April 21, 2017.

Water Challenge:  The UNICEF club is urging everyone to participate in our Water Challenge Fundraiser! All donation proceedings will be used to fund a new water project in Burkina Faso, Kenya, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Rwanda or Uganda, and then The Water Project will post pictures and GPS coordinates of the project you helped build! Starting this week until the end of April, there will be 4 large water jugs placed in the front office, each pertaining to the different grade levels. You can drop off your change to help those in need!  The grade level that has the most amount of money at the end wins; but there’s a twist! You can “bomb” the other classes by putting paper currency in their jug. The amount of paper currency will then be subtracted from their coin total. The prize? Your grade level will get to completely drench teachers of their choosing with water balloons! So, set your sites on a target, and donate!

Senior San Jacinto Monument Service Learning Trip:  The senior Class will be taking a service learning trip to the San Jacinto Monument TOMORROW Friday, April 21.  Students should have the following for the trip:  Clear Horizons t-shirt, close-toed shoes, dress for the weather (could be warm) NO short shorts, hats or hair securing devices, and sunscreen.  We will be outdoors the entire time so you may want to bring plenty of water and a snack

Spanish Club:  Join Spanish Club Monday April 24 in Maldonado’s room from 3:30-4:30 for nachos and Spanish Fiesta planning.

Spanish Club Shirts:  Spanish Club shirts have arrived! If you pre-ordered a shirt, pick them up from Ms. Maldonado before or after school anytime this week. If you would like to purchase a shirt, there are a few extras available for $15 each. Bring cash or check to Maldonado before or after school to get a shirt.

Late Arrival Day: Wednesday, April 26, is a CCISD High School Late Arrival Day.  There will be no morning neighborhood buses available due to CCISD High School Late Arrival. Clear Horizons buses will still run from the 5 zoned high schools (a shuttle does not run from Clear View High School on Late Arrival Days).  Clear Horizons does not participate in Late Arrival Days, therefore all Clear Horizons students are required to attend all classes on that day.

Health and Career Fair:  Vy Tran and the Clear Horizons student council will be hosting a Health and Career Fair at McWhirter Elementary Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 5:30-6:30.  This fair is sponsored by the Clear Creek Education Foundation Student Innovative Grant Program.  You are invited to come and participate in health screenings, receive mental health information, talk to students about career choice, and watch elementary students learn about dental health, exercise, and healthy eating.  Hope to see you there!

Student Laptop Verification:  All students, whether you have a district-provided device or not, need to complete the online Laptop Verification survey.  This survey should take less than 5 minutes to complete.  A link has been added to ItsLearning for students to access the mandatory online form.    Or, students can access it via this link.  All students must complete the online verification form by Friday, April 28.  Students who report they use a personal device can submit “n/a” for the open-ended questions.

Car Wash:  Clear Horizons Class of 2017 is having a Car Wash Saturday, April 29, from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Riley’s Donuts, 1113 Clear Lake City Blvd.  Come grab a donut while the seniors wash your car!  All donations accepted.

SJC Exam Week:  San Jacinto College Exam Week will take place May 8 – May 12.  Please check the SJC Exam Schedule and speak with your professor for details on your exam.

Amazon Smile!  The Clear Horizons Booster Club is now on Amazon Smile!  Simply follow this link https://smile.amazon.com/ch/26-3510958 and you will be donating to the Clear Horizons Booster Club!!  The link looks like a generic CCISD identification, but it is really for the Clear Horizons Boosters!

NHS Table Tutors: Would you like to have a free tutor who has successfully navigated the Horizons workload? Come to the BQR on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to get immediate help, schedule an after school tutoring session (held in a high school teacher's classroom), or to find out more about secrets of success at Horizons. These friendly experienced tutors will be stationed at a table near check-in between 1:15 -1:45 pm. What a great resource - but only if you use it!

Late Bus:  Clear Horizons provides a late bus that runs every Tuesday and Thursday at 4:45 PM.  The late bus will be in front of our school by 4:45 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday and typically departs within 10 minutes. The late bus will drop off in two locations: The East side of 45 at Clear Creek High School and on the West side of 45 at Brookside Intermediate. Students who are planning on riding the late bus must request a pass from the office. The request must be made for official business only (ie tutorials, a rehearsal, detention, etc.). A bus pass must be picked up before 1:00 p.m. on the day you want to ride (Tuesday or Thursday). No bus passes will be issued after lunch.  If you do not have a pass you will not be allowed to ride the bus.  If no one has picked up a late bus pass, the bus will be cancelled. Students, make sure that your parent/guardian knows that you are staying late and catching the late bus. The front office closes at 4:00 p.m.  When signing up for pass students must include the following:

1) Purpose – Why are you staying late?

2) Location from 3:30 – 5:00 – Where will you be?

3) Parent Permission – Did you let your parent know you were staying late?

The reason we must have this information is so that we can find you in case of an emergency.
